Breathwork – Conscious Breathing

Breathing is something we always carry with us; it’s free and one of the most powerful tools we have to regulate the nervous system, release stress, and reconnect with ourselves. Yet, it’s something most of us have never learned to use consciously.

With conscious breathing, we can directly influence the body, like a remote control straight into the nervous system. By breathing consciously, we activate the vagus nerve and the parasympathetic nervous system, the body's own braking system. We signal to the body that it is safe to settle down. Similarly, we can also consciously activate the sympathetic nervous system under controlled conditions, which trains the body's ability to handle stress and quickly recover from it.

We can use breathwork to:

  • Regulate our nervous system and reduce stress
  • Process emotions and trauma
  • Increase our presence and focus
  • Sleep better
  • Connect with our inner selves

I have personally experienced how powerful breathing is, how it can change how we feel, how we sleep, how we experience life, and how we see ourselves. And just like when we create with clay, we get a break from the everyday noise and all the thoughts swirling around. We land in the here and now. As a certified breathwork guide, I am passionate about passing this tool on to you.
